Our School Readiness Goals

Play-based learning leads us onto school readiness as all these play-based experiences are the ones which will provide your child with the foundational skills essential for later life as well as overall school readiness. Although most people believe that school readiness consists of learning about letters, numbers, reading and other academics, children need to learn basic foundational skills first before moving onto these more complex concepts.

Our focus is on developing each child’s:

• Responsibility for themselves and their belongings
• Focus and attention span
• Language skills
• Emotional Regulation
• Social skills

Our intentionally planned experiences work on small steps to progressing towards these goals. It is important to build children’s confidence and these skills, especially social skills as these are the ones, they will be vital when they move onto kindergarten.

The National Quality Framework

The National Quality Framework (NQF) provides a national approach to regulation, assessment and quality improvement for early childhood education and care and outside school hours care services across Australia. The NQF encompasses:

  • National Law and Regulations
  • National Quality Standards
  • Assessment And Quality Rating process
  • National Learning Frameworks

Mimosa Kids Preschool & Early Learning Centre are currently rated EXCEEDING (2024) under the National Quality Standards.

The Early Years Learning Framework

Our experienced educators follow the nationally recognised curriculum, Belonging, Being & Becoming: Early Years Learning Framework V.20 (EYLF). The Early Years Framework for Australia is to support early childhood providers, teachers and educators to extend and enrich children’s learning from birth to 5 years and through the transition to school. The Framework puts children’s learning at the core and comprises interdependent elements: Vision, Principles, Practices and Learning Outcomes.

The Framework conveys the highest expectations for all children’s learning, development and wellbeing, it communicates these expectations through the following 5 Learning Outcomes:
• Children have a strong sense of identity
• Children are connected with and contribute to their world
• Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
• Children are confident and involved learners
• Children are effective communicators

Appsessment

We use an online documentation tool called Appsessment, where you can view all of your child’s learning and development.

At the end of every day you will receive a class reflection, which will include details on what was planned for the children, why it was planned and what was developed. We will include details on our group time discussion and the children’s voices. You will also be able to view photos and videos from the day.

Throughout the term you will receive individual documentation on your child and will be able to easily liase and correspond with your child’s educators through the app.
