CENTRE OWNERS: Laurence & Erin Adney
Mimosa Kids is privately owned by Erin and Laurence Adney with over 25 years’ experience in the child care industry. Erin is trained in early childhood education and both Erin and Laurence enjoy playing an active role in supporting staff and ensuring a high quality of care and education for all children is provided.
SUPPORT MANAGER: Melissa Adney Wolfe
Melissa’s role is to collaborate with the Services Director and Coordinators in order to provide them, and their teams with support and guidance. She also collaborates with the Approved Providers (owners) of Mimosa Kids aiming to promote clear communication and a shared sense of purpose in order to deliver positive outcomes for team members, children and families. Melissa is personally inspired by the ongoing and collaborative development of our services policies and practices, as well as driving meaningful improvements within our company’s organisation.
NOMINATED SUPERVISOR/ DIRECTOR: Ashleigh Luscri (T-F)
Ashleigh has been a part of the Mimosa Kids family for twelve years, in that time not only has she developed close ties with families and the community, she has excelled in leadership roles, continually supporting her team members in meeting a high quality standard in all areas of the service. Ashleigh has experience with all age groups and in management roles and is currently in her last year of completing a Bachelor of Education. Ashleigh’s main role as director and nominated supervisor of the service is to ensure all stakeholders are heard and Mimosa Kids policies, procedures, and high quality service is continued. EDUCATIONAL LEADER: Bec Reeves (M, T, TH, F)
Bec has been part of the Mimosa team for the past seven years, working throughout each of our rooms in this time. She has competed her Certificate III and Diploma in Children’s Services and is currently studying her Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. As the Educational Leader of the service, Bec’s main goal is to support educators in ensuring a high quality, individualised learning program is carried out, where children of all ages can freely explore their interests and grow in all developmental domains. Bec will also be working in the Joey room, which will enable her to hold a clear perspective of the challenges that may arises for educators. Bec will be able to make time with any family who are looking for any additional support and/ or may have questions in regards to our online programming tool, Appsessment.
OUR JOEY TEAM
Zoe joined our team in 2009 as one of our trainees, completing her Certificate III in Children’s Services. In 2011 she moved to Perth where she had her son Noah, and completed her Diploma in Children’s Services. She returned to Sydney in 2017 and rejoined our team at the beginning of 2018. Zoe will be working 4 days, 10 hour shifts as the Joey Team Leader.
Joey Educator: Bec Reeves (M, T, Th, F)
Bec has been part of the Mimosa team for the past seven years, completing her Certificate III and Diploma in Children’s Services. Bec is also currently completing her Bachelor of Education. She will be working two days in the room, as part of the Joey team, whilst also taking on the role of our centre’s Educational Leader.
Joey Educator: Jaana Veikkanen (M-F)
Jaana joined our team at the beginning of 2018 as one of our centre’s Trainee’s. She worked throughout the centre, supporting the team and children until she had completed her Certificate III in Children’s Services in May, where she permanently joined the Joey team. Jaana is currently completing her Diploma in Children’s Services, and works 5 days a week.
Joey Educator: Alisi Kanongataa (M, T, W, Th)
Alisi joined our team in 2017 as one of our trainees, and has since completed her studies, now holding a Certificate III in Children’s Services. Alisi’s connection with our youngest group truly shone this year, and we are so pleased to have her as part of the Joey team again in 2019.
OUR BILBY TEAM
Bilby Team Leader/Educator: Dionne Nicol (M – W)
Dionne has been a part of the Mimosa team for the past twelve years, prior to that, working at Erin & Laurence’s previous centres. Dionne is a mother of two and holds a Bachelor of Education. Due to having to drop off and pick up her children, Dionne will be working 9am – 3 pm Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Bilby Educator: Kesaia Palu (M, W, TH, F)
Kesaia has been a part of the Mimosa team for the past four years, completing her Certificate III and Diploma in Children’s Services. Kesaia is excited to also being moving up with some of her 2018 children, and will be working 4 days a week, 10 hour shifts.
Sarah joined our team at the beginning of 2019. She holds her Certificate III in Children’s Services and has over eight years experience in the child care industry. Sarah initially joined our team to support educators during the middle parts of the day, but has since increased her hours and permanently joined our Bilby team. Sarah has been a wonderful addition to our team this year!
OUR KOOKABURRA TEAM
Kookaburra Educator/ Team Leader: Jennifer Chen Chow (M-F)
Jennifer joined our team in 2017 and will be working as the team leader in the preschool room again this year. Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Education, with over 18 years’ experience in the industry. In a short period of time Jennifer has already made such a positive impact in our preschool room and we can’t wait to see what 2019 brings!
Kookaburra Educator: Sammi Faithful (M, T, W, Th)
Sammi has been part of the Mimosa team for the past three years, completing her Certificate III and more recently, her Diploma in Children’s Services. Sammi has a passion for education and is eager to bring her wonderful ideas into the preschool room next year. Sammi will be working 4 days a week, 10 hour shifts.
Kookaburra Educator: Steph Salter (Th, F)
Steph has been part of the Mimosa team for the past five years, completing her Certificate III then going on to study her Bachelor of Education full time. Now that she has completed her degree she will be part of our Kookaburra team two days a week, and working casually in local schools the other three. We look forward to Steph bring her knowledge from local schools into the centre.
OUR CENTRE TRAINEES
We run Traineeship programs at Mimosa Kids. For 2019, we will have two trainees as part of the team. These trainees are paired with more experienced staff to be mentors to them and help them to gain important skills through on the job experiences. You can always see what staff members/ trainees are in your child’s room, as pictures of each team are displayed for the day in the classrooms. If you are not sure where that is located in your child’s room, please see a team member.
Rose Buccheri (M – F)
Rose joined our team mid 2018 as one of our trainees. Rose will be working five days a week and supporting the team across the centre, working in all three rooms.
Aster joined our team in June 2019 as one of our centre’s Trainee’s. She will be working five days a week, supporting the team across the centre.
OUR RELIEF EDUCATORS
Jessica joined Mimosa Kids in 2010 as one of our Trainee’s completing her Certificate III in Children’s Services, then a year later completing her Diploma in Children’s Services. Throughout this time, Jessica worked in all three of our rooms, supporting all of the educators and getting to know each of the children. In 2016 Jessica decided to try something new, and transitioned to a much larger centre. In 2019 she rejoined the Mimosa family, working at both our Long Day Care and Out of School Hours Services. Jessica works at our LDC during the middle of the day, covering morning tea/lunch breaks and educator off the floor time.
Stephanie Sadler (on call)
Steph joined Mimosa Kids in 2014 completing her Certificate III in Children’s Services. Steph is currently one of our full time Out of School Hours Club educators, but regularly works up at the centre to cover when educators are away. Steph will continue this role next year to ensure consistency of educators.
Hala joined our team in June 2018 as one of our regular casuals. Throughout 2018 she worked three days a week supporting the preschool team. In 2019 she will work across the centre covering educator absences and time off the floor. Hala is on call Monday to Friday.
Our Administration Team
Sharon in one of our centre’s Administration officers, this year celebrating 10 years as part of the Mimosa family. Sharon is available for all account support, Mondays and Thursdays, 9am to 3pm. You can reach her on 9453 1162, email@example.com or simply visit her in the office.
Kate is also one of our centre’s Administratin officers, joining us in May 2019. Kate has a great deal of knowledge on childcare accounts and will available for support on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 8:30am and 4:30pm. Julie-Anne Gallo (M, W, F)
Julie-Anne has been part of the Mimosa Kids team for the past 8 years. She puts all of our delicious and healthy menu’s together each season, and holds training in Food Handling, Food Safety and Healthy Menu Planning.
Jenny Frangoples (T, W)
Jenny joined our team in 2019, after working for many years in a local school canteen. Jenny has such a passion for food and really enjoying working amongst our team.
Our Preschool and Early Learning Centre provides food that meets 50% of the recommended daily requirements. To meet the individual child’s needs at meal times we provide the children with choices. Lunch can be a variety of foods with the emphasis being on the preparation of fresh, healthy, child friendly food. A seasonal menu is displayed in each room so you can adjust your evening meals; please ask a staff member if you are not sure where the menu is displayed. If you have a recipe you would like to share please let us know, we are always looking for new recipes to incorporate into our cookbook. Our menu’s are checking by our Munch & Move representative, ensuring we are meeting all of the daily and weekly requirements outlined in the Australian Dietry Guidelines.
